最近在讀 Linda Pastan 的詩

她擅長用平易近人的文字

捕捉日常生活裡的吉光片羽

平凡的生活

表面上風平浪靜

但是在平靜的表面之下

往往暗藏玄機

甚至波濤洶湧

 

像這首詩－－

 

What We Want

 

What we want

is never simple.

We move among the things

we thought we wanted:

a face, a room, an open book

and these things bear our names--

now they want us.

But what we want appears

in dreams, wearing disguises.

We fall past,

hold out our arms

and in the morning

our arms ache.

We don't remember the dream

but the dream remembers us.

It is there all day

as an animal is there

under the table,

as the stars are there

even in full sun.

 

我們往往被自己追求的東西

像是學問　容貌　工作契約　財產　等

反向擁有　反向控制

真正想要的東西

反而只能在夢裡出現

好多好多沒有實現的夢想

在夢裡湧現

我們張開雙臂迎接

卻撲空

晨起　只覺得手臂酸痛

我們把夢忘了

但是夢記得我們

夢想一直在那兒

像躲在桌子底下的怪獸

還有大白天的滿天星辰

（看不到不表示不存在）
