101中年心情

 

我不是基督徒。

最近為了準備一場世界展望會的口譯工作，

特別跑去校園書局買了一本聖經，也就翻閱了起來。

大學唸外文系的時候，曾經很認真的讀過聖經，

但是是把聖經當成文學作品來讀，

印象最深刻的經文就是傳道書 Ecclesiastes.

 

傳道書開宗明義就說: 虛空! 虛空! 虛空的虛空! 凡事都是虛空!

 

Meaningless! Meaningless!

Utterly meaningless!

Everything is meaningless!

 

在那個年少輕狂的年代，這幾句話唸起來特別過癮，

就這麼深深的烙印在腦海裡。

 

二十幾年過去了，長了年歲，卻沒長多少智慧。

還是不了解為什麼人生充滿了不公平。

為什麼壞事總發生在好人身上?

為什麼惡人沒有得到惡報?

 

傳道書9:11說:

…the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong,

 nor bread to the wise,  nor riches to the intelligent,

nor favor to the men of skill;

but time and chance happen to them all

快跑的未必能贏， 力戰的未必得勝，

智慧的未必得糧食， 明哲的未必得資財，

 有能力的未必得到賞識;

一切都要看時機還有運氣!

 

既然如此，怎麼辦呢?

 

我在傳道書 9:7 找到了答案:

Go, eat your food with gladness,

and drink your wine with a joyful heart,

for it is now that God favors what you do.

只管歡歡喜喜吃你的飯，快快樂樂的喝你的酒，

 因為神已經悅納你的作為。

 

Enjoy life with your wife/husband, whom you love,

all the days of this meaningless life

that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days.

For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.

在你一生虛空的年日，就是神賜你在日光下虛空的年日，

就同你所愛的妻/夫快活度日，

因為這是你在日光之下勞碌所得的分。

 

一切都是空。想太多也是空。

 

不如好好過日子來得實在。

好好吃飯，好好睡覺，好好愛自己所愛的人。

只要活著，就要認真的工作，認真的吃喝玩樂，認真的愛人。

就是這樣。

 

這是再讀傳道書所得到的啟示!
